Please help! Having probelms

Ok, so I bought my 02 Edge 4x4 a few weeks ago and I love the truck. Its a 4.0 auto with 30k miles. Latlely I have beend having some problems. It's happened 3 times in the last week. When I go to start the truck sometimes it just wont start. Turns over fine and has plenty of battery power so its not that. If I lightly press the gas pedal while i'm cranking it will fire up, but dies unless I keep the pedal pressed a little. After I let it run like that for a minute or two It will stay running and runs normal. every time it's happened its been with 1/4 tank of gas or less, but that may be purely coincidence. It feels to me like the engines just not getting gas, but once its started everything is fine. This is driving me nuts so if anyone can help it wouid be greatly appreciated.

disconnect the battery
remove and carefully clean your MAF
reconnect and hopefully that solves your problem
next step would be to change fuel filter as it may be clogged and giving you low flow

fuel filter or air filter. first thing to do is check the air filter, reset the PCM, clean the sensors. if none of that works id say the fuel filter

I say clean the maf and change out the fuel filter. I doubt the pump is going bad on a 02.

and yes, reset the pcm by disconnecting the battery.

Thanks everyone for all the respronse. I will clean the maf and reset the computer when I get home from work and if that doesnt work I will change the fuel filter over the weekend, the air filter is good. Whats the safest way to clean the maf?

Pressing the throttle a bit helps => good chance the IAC is sticking.

Thats what I had been thinking. It starts right up when I press the gas a bit.

Ok, I cleaned the maf, cleaned the iac, and reset the computer. It started right up, but thats not really suprising because most of the time it does start up. It always does it when It's been sitting a little while so I'll see what it does in the morning. I am also hearing a weird noise when I cut the truck off. It's sort of a popping noise like a big air bubble when it gets to the top of water. It sounds like its coming from the air filter. Like the engine is pushing air back out when I shut it off.

Hmm.. Sounds to me like its either your fuel pump or your fuel filter. It Definately has somthing to do with the intake of gasoline to the engine. Have you checked to see if maybe there is sediments in side of your tank, or a fuelline might be cracked, or you might have a glog in your fuel line.

Thats either oil in the pan... or water in the catylatic converters i think...

Nothing too serious, my truck did it too... most do.

Ok, I think I have the starting problem solved. Today it did it so I had a friend crank it and I knocked on the IAC whith a ratchet and it started right up. I'm going to get a new IAC later today. Now the part that is weird is the noise I explained earlier. I found that it's coming from the airbox. It's like a "bloop" sound when I shut the truck off and when I turn the key in the on position right after shtting it off.
