Icon4 Overheating after top end rebuild

I'm still having problems with my 94' 4.0L XLT Ranger even after putting on new heads and head gaskets and all the gaskets needed for a top end rebuild( i have not touched the camshaft) and I had to bypass my heater core because that was one issue but I'm still blowing white smoke out the tailpipe and losing coolant and I have done a leakdown test and i can hear it in the crankcase could it be my block is toast?

Hey there!

Did you measure the block prior to installing the new heads? Was it flat within the recommended spec?

How exactly did you prep the block surface?

What brand head gasket and intake gasket did you use?

Did you use new head bolts?

Did you follow the specific process for bolting the head and intake together?

Its possible to warp or crack these blocks. Sucker would have to really be run hot though. Depending on what you did based off my above questions, you might be able to resolve without pulling engine. Maybe it was something as simple as poor sealing with head gasket or incorrect installation (hoping for your sake). But if not, you may need to pull the engine and tear down and have machine shop can inspect block and check for cracks properly. Fix your cooling system and make it perfect.
