On my Bama SCT 2 controller the lowest idle setting it gives in 704rpm and it goes up from there in 50rpm increments. With the factory tach it was hard to get an idea just where it idled from the factory and there is no spec listed under the hood. I hate low idles (like 704rpm for instance), but when I set the idle up with the SCT, to say 804-854rpm, the engine revs WAY too high on starts (especially cold starts). I think this may be an effect of setting the idle up. I am going to set it at the ultra-low 704rpm and see what happens. But just what is is supposed to be stock? 700rpm?

I am pretty sure mine idles in the 700-800 range, likely in the low 700s.

 

Well, I set the idle speed back to 704 with the SCT 2 and the start-up routine is just fine now. This should be fixable in the tune. I am going to contact Doug and see.

With the idle set with the SCT 2 at anything above 704 (I tried 754, 804, and 854) on cold starts (even in freezing weather) it would rev to around 2500-2600 rpm and hold there for about 15 sec. and then down to 2000 for 30 sec. to 1 min. and then hold at about 1500 until I started moving or the temp gauge moved off cold. Now I am sure this did no harm especially since I run full synthetic in the proper weight, but it is still a little much for freezing weather or any cold start (where the most engine wear takes place). I want to get this corrected since it idles soooo much smoother at 804-854 rpm.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

 

Mine (completely stock) warms up at around 1500 rpm and idles at lowest about 600 some rpm.
