Throttle Body Question

Heres the story. I got my '98 Ranger at the start of this year. I was excited to start doing mods. So, I bought some stuff and went to work. I bought a throttle body spacer and installed it. I've herd that they dont help on a Ranger. I haven't really seen any more performance or better gas milage (frankly dont remember what stock felt like casue I just got the truck.) And it seems like when I floor it, it takes longer to start goin (if that makes sense.) My question is, in your professional opinion, should I take it off? Thought I'd ask b/c I go back to college in a week so I will have time to do it. Thanks.

I kind of figured that on most vehicles now if it improved fuel mileage and performance it would have came from the factory as such.

Id start by pulling the intake silencer - its free mod gives a slightly improved throttle response.
