Time for upgrades
Time for upgrades
hey guys,
i've now had my '05 Ranger 4.0 FX4 LII for 7 months now and i am wanting to do some upgrading. my plans include: a intake system, exhaust, possibly a chip, and pulleys for now. My question is; is there anything i can do to the exhaust to increase performance without making it any louder?
Am i on the right track as far as good upgrades for this engine and how much mpg and hp will these mods do for me?
thanks

There are some exhaust setups that wont make it much louder. Any muffler you add to your truck is mostly likely gonna add some sound.
Try looking at Borla and Magnaflow. I have heard the Magnaflow on a Ranger and it was really quite.

i have an sb intake jba headers to a jba 2.5 cat back with a magnaflow, and it is quite at idle/freeway speeds , but it sounds pretty deep at 3k under load, and wot 3-5.5k is really loud and nice. btw its not even close to as loud as my built 16v N.A jetta was, so in comparison to some things its quite.
those are definitely some good upgrades I got the gibson extreme dual exhaust and that is the perfect exhaust not to loud and not to quite just perfect. I also got the k&n intake which works well.
Yeah I heard a Magnaflow on a 99 4.0 OHV and it was super quiet.
