update on cat-delete

so some of you may know i deleted all my cats recently. well i just thought id explain what happened if anyone else is crazy enough to do this. well my truck does sound much much better and il try to get a sound vid up if my camera stops actin up.

the actual process of doing it is completely annoying. now in doing this i tugged a little too hard on the 02 sensor harness and accidentally pulled a wire which caused a short in the harness and blew my fuse that controls my egr valve idle control valve and 02 sensors. so i had to replace that. but as far as people saying my gas mileage is going to go to hell because my computer wont be running right because of the no cats. this is wrong. i have a sct tuner from bamachips and with all his tunes he shuts off the downstream 02 sensors and the upstreams are the only sensors that affect the way the engine runs..and as being the upstreams are above the cats my engine runs perfect and i have absolutely no check engine light.

i took it to a shop to replace my harness and they ran a backpressure test and everything was good. i do feel like i gained power but not much at all. the throttle response is the thing i like the most and also the sound.

if you plan an attempting this..be careful because the exhaust is the most sensitive part of the obd2 system.

I'm happy enough with my Flowmaster exhaust. I'm definitely leaving well enough alone especially if I ever want to sell my truck or move out of Florida.

oh you fawkin redneck and your hootinanny ****!
haha kidding.
does it sound like a pissed off UPS truck? thats what my jeep sounded like when i got rid of the cat(and muffler... ooops haha)

question though. instead of hacking up the Y-pipe and what not, would it have been easier to build a new y-pipe from the manifolds back to the muffler? and just step up a size in tubing also?

Thats good, i bet you did have a little loss in low end though, right?

Its actually not a "loss" it just moves the peak power band in the higher range, so say you make 240 TQ at 2,000 RPM, now since you have no cats that same torque may be at 2,400 RPM.

Bamachips tunes "delete" the rear O2 sensors? I've been tossing around the idea of ditching the rear two cats for a while now...and i have an Xcal2.

yea i e-mailed bamachips asking about the downstream 02 sensors and he said he shut them off on every tune. i have them unplugged and when i tune my truck back to stock my CEL comes on but once i put the tune back on it shuts off

Very nice! I know your exhaust is completely different than mine(i compaired mine to an '07 4.0L). And I want to eliminate the last 02 sensor between the last two cats. Thanks man.
