1990 2.3l 2wd cat delete help
hey everyone im new to the site and i wanted to delete my cat out of my exhust system but idn if the 1990 ranger will through a cel code just wondering if any one has done this
you dont have to worry about a cel on that early of a truck.
but just make sure b4 you do it. look and see where the last o2 sensor is. if its b4 all the cats you are fine if there is one after the cats you need a spark plug defouler or something like that someone else will chime in.
but if you dont have any o2 sensors after the cats you can punch them or remove them and not worry about a cel. i dont have cats on my 94

downey's got it right, as for finding if it's going to throw a code, i don't know about the defouler though...
you could always put a high flow in... they are reasonably priced and keeps you legal across the continent...

the stock cats are free flowing the only thing he'll gain from removing it will make the truck louder there is no performance gains
If his stocker was clogged up it would make sense.
I've used defoulers on my Evolution IX for 2 years - worked fine until I decided to just disable the peripherial bits in the software that actually runs the catalyst readiness test.
