What do these trucks top out at?

Today I was on the highway and everyone was cruising really fast. I hit about 90 mph and the truck wouldn't go any faster. It started bucking at that speed. My rpm's were at about 3200. Not that I need to drive that fast or any faster, but is this normal for the truck to do this at that speed or is there a possible problem with it?

Stock the Edge stops at 90, but not stock is more fun! I've been up to 112mph.

i can run 118mph with 35s and 4.56s...

I am sure a stock truck with 30s and 4.10s 130 can be accomplished.

I agree. The only time i've had my truck over 80 is when I was trying to pass a tractor in southern MN. He was doing 50 and swerving all over the place so I punched it and went around him, when I looked down I was doing about 95. No bucking though.

I've had mine up to around 114 when it was brand new...racing a buddy of mine down the highway one night...but we were going down hill. Now the truck seems to say "HEY!, EFF YOU!" around 100...Suprisingly, these trucks seem to stick to the road better than most small pickups...I can take some preetty tight corners at 45-60 mph without much body roll or much play in the suspension...I wouldn't trade my ranger for a sports car any day of the week. It gets me where I need to be fast enough....

92 before my speed limiter kicks in, though I have had fun on occasion opening her up to the limiter just before a hill and letting gravity take control... 97mph there.

Oh and D, that story is just amazing. One of my buddys had one of those get off easy storys back in 2006.

Hyjack on

My buddy Matt was on his way home from his girlfriends house after a fight they had. He has a 99 Accord V6 and likes to drive fast. Anywho he had called me to chat because of the fight he and Erin had had and needed to vent. So in the process of venting he decided to challenge an Impala sitting next to him at the light, not thinking that Arapahoe County uses Impala's for unmarked traffic enforcement. So the Impala gave in, Matt got on it hard, smoked the Impala, only to be greeted 1/2 mile down the road by a couple marked CV's. They however did not light him up for another 2 miles. When they did, they told him the Impala had clocked him doing 115 in a 45, and 85 in a 40mph construction zone. They had a little meeting in the parking lot he pulled into, saying he maintained firm control of the car at those speeds and he was no stranger to driving. I would hope so seeing as he's a driving instructor. He should have gone to jail, car impounded, and license revoked at those speeds, but rather they gave him a 8 point reckless driving ticket. He took it into court to tell them he was guilty, and they dropped the charge to a 1 point, careless driving ticket and a $250 fine. He hasn't done that since.

Hyjack over

94 MPH before the 31x10.5's and a tune in 4th.
105 MPH after the 31x10.5's.
135 MPH after a tune.

Don't try this at home folks - controlled environment with someone watching the tires while double strapped to the dyno. I let off at 135 when the tires started to "grow".

Those are all stock - All I did was pull the factory limits.
The sole purpose of these runs was to show factory limits, 2nd vs. 4th gear and some other "disputed" dyno myths.
