what kind of gas milege is ur sohc gettin?

my truck is giving me some issues, soo im looking for a new truck, and i thought about a 2002 extended cab 2wd(maybe 4x4), but the rising price of gas is making me have thoughts of buying a vw, but what is the average mpg city and highway for a 4.0 sohc?

mixed, and I'm about 85-90% city, I'm getting about 17-19 mpg. Open highway I can get between 18.6 and 21.5 with my speed between 75-85. I went out to SE AZ on Thursday, I forgot to get the gallons when I filled (new printer at station doesn't put the gallons on receipt either :( ) but at 1/2 tank I was at 215 miles from fill-up. FWIW, I drive my truck like it was stolen, or rather I like to get up to the posted speed limit instead of grandmaing it to posted speed. I filled up yesterday so as soon as my next paycheck comes I'll recalc. mileage. I also need to do an oil change, my sythetic's at about 7400 miles.

I get 15+ mpg with my 4.0 when driving in the city. I coundn't tell you what I get on Highway. The only thing I have done to my truck that would inprove my mpg is my exhaust.

i stay between 19.8 and 20.3 stock rims and stock size tires, once stayed below 60 and got 21. averge speed 65.-town AND FREEWAY. hope that helps you.one of the things i like about 4.0 is you can drive regular speed and get pretty good mileage and you can also kick it and it will move very well. lee

13-15 but I mostly drive short trips. My work is 1.5 miles away and my college is about 5 miles. All my friends live within 3 miles and we never have to go far to do anything. So my truck hardly ever gets fully warmed up.

I have been driving a SOHC motor for 5 years between two truck, one an auto and one a stick, and I probably average 17. I have gotten as low as 7 MPG (70MPH Towing two snowmobiles up north in a good head wind) and 23 MPG driving 55-60 for 2 hours up north in the summer, with nothing but a suitcase and a tent in the bed. I drive 60 Miles a day to work all freeway, and I get about 18 usually. So, IMO I think it is a small myth that these things get terrible gas mileage. My buddy's dakota gets worse and My other buddy's Sonoma get about the same and now even less since he lifted it and runs 35's.

16-19 with a mix of city and highway. I have an automatic transmission. I'm sure that my mileage could be better with a manual. Never thought that I would enjoy driving a truck with a juice tranny, but I do. Must be that I am becoming a lazy old man.

i've been getting around 14mpg, work is 1.4 mi away, still 10 min drive with lights and traffic. I drive about 10 mi's most days, going to the same place pretty much[girlfriend lives 1/8 mile down adjasent street from work].
I've learned to go slower on the highway, been getting 15mi's more per tank, which is usually 150, has been between 160-195mi recently. Can't wait to see what the efan can do for me
