Whats does a tune up consist of?

Too late to call dealership to ask, so ill make a thread.

What exactly does a tune up for a 4.0l SOHC consist of? Im at 67k and was wondering if i needed one. Thanks.

Umm, do you have an owners manual? What is the service history of the truck?

Spark plugs are said to be good for 100k miles, but it wouldn't hurt to change them. Coolant may be 100k mile coolant, not sure? Transmission and transfer case oil should be changed probably either 30k or 60k. Fuel filter could probably be changed... Air filter if it's dirty.

ah ok. I just didnt know what a mechanic did to a vehichle for a tune up. I recently changed plugs and fuel filter.

What about the timing? when will that eed to be checked?

Doubt your timing is out of whack with on 67K. I'm a 105K and haven't had an issue

Do you mean just on our vehicles?

As far as I know timing is adjustable

Yes, just on the Rangers. The timing is adjusted by the computer, there is no real manual adjustment.

Just keep driving it, keep up on scheduled maintenance in the owners manual and keep an eye on everything.
