When should I shift gears?
I think there is a 1337 speak generator around here somewhere. makes it alot easier. it took me like 5 minutes to write out that sentence.
I shift my 4.0 SOHC w/ 4.10's around 1700-2200 rpms for normal driving, doesn't lug at all or show any signs of too much load. Been driving manuals since I was 6. Get between 18.7-22 mpg combo.
But when I race I shift around 4200 rpms.

yeah my 03 sohc gets peak hp outta 5500 rpm, the tach only goes up to 6 with no redline... wierd so i looked at the manual and it told me when to shift and i noticed its all at 2000 rpm, so best fuel economy shift at 2000 rpm and if you wanna race some one shift at 5500 rpm but dont go over
yeah i dont noramlly race ppl in my baby, but when some cocky sob pulls up in a ricer, i gotta light up my tires and pull away from that ****. so normally i shift second at 5000 to 5500 and the next gear goes up to 5500 like nothing and im already doing 90 in third GOTTA LOVE MY RANGER
Same for a 1995 4 cl?
Hi I don't want to sound dumb, but my ranger has already made me feel it. 🙃 I wanted a tach so ordered a cluster off a 98 ramger. Turns out even tho it's plug and play my 95 doesn't turn on wt new cluster. So no tach. I've always had a 6cl wt tach so would just take it to 3k and shift. I'm wondering what is optimal for the 4cl speed wise since I don't know my rpm. (Getting a tach bit isn't delivered yet) I can be going on the highway 60 and lose power wt a slight incline. So any help is appreciated I don't want to blow it up. It's my only transportation.
