wierd sputtering and starting issue

ok I have a 94 4.0l 5 speed, for the last few months I have been having an issue I have scoured the forums and can't find anything like it.

When I start the engine it will die right away for two or three times then start and idle fine, also going down the road (doesn't matter speed or weight or temp) it will surge and sputter like its out of gas for a second or two then cruise just fine. Does not throw any codes I have checked several times.

Now if I disconnect the MAF it will run just fine just a tad rich and I get the CEL for the MAF. Have cleaned and replaced the MAF already no help, PCV replaced, checked for vac leaks run seafoam through it. Gonna pull the plugs and wires this weekend.

Any ideas would be a great help.

Do a tune up

Clean Throttle body
Change plugs and wires
Check coil for cracks
Fuel filter

The OHV are known for upper and lower intake gaskets. Spray maf cleaner or carb cleaner around the upper and lower gaskets. If it revs up you have a leak and need to replace the gasket.

How many miles?

The fuel pump relay may be wearing out causing the pump to cut out until the contacts seat themselves.
