Don't know about life span, but in my opinion, they are awesome.

I have owned several 4x4 5 speeds and now, I wouldn't go back. Too much trouble. Auto is the way to go unless it's a 11 second and slower street car you want to have fun with. Even for a race car, no where to look but auto. If we could do everything better by hand, why would we need to build machines :)

4.0 SOHC + auto = poop

After owning one with only 28k miles I hated it. It shifted rougher than any auto I've ever driven in. It only had 28k miles! lol It started getting rough and acting stupid around 15k and the dealer would always say "We'll make a note of that". pshh

My new truck had 51k on it when I got it with a manual tranny. With bigger tires and 5" of lift, it has more acceleration than the auto did. I can shift the sucker 5x smoother than the auto shifted.

Manuals are much cheaper to fix when you have problems as well.

That is a opinion shared by many, but when you can't get from the tree to the 60ft beams without shifting twice and the slightest bobble or tire shake on the launch will break 1st gear or 2nd depending on what you are in right off the shaft, A MVB Art Car C4 is one your best friends :)

I really like this one because I am just getting lazy in my old age. I have never owned an auto in 15 years of driving that wasn't a full blown race car. All my DD's have been 5 or 6 speeds. Just trying something new. :)

They only downshift WOT because they were designed to. It computer controlled, not vacuum like old school trannies and if you read the owners manual, it even tells you that you have to go WOT to downshift :)

It's working as advertised, how can you knock it for that?
