Hey folks, I am now the owner of this badass Ranger! HA! So glad I found this build as well. The truck now has a "B" motorsport cam in it. Soon to get a Vortech S trim and maybe a trans brake. Recently built the trans to handle more power. Now has 03-04 Cobra anniversary wheels on it too. If I can keep folks from buggin' me about selling it, I can get some stuff done! :)

Hello, it's been close to 4 years since I traded the ranger back to Roger... did you buy it from him? That was a fun ride while it lasted. I had a problem with heat from the heater coming in the cab even when it was off. And with no AC it was rough in the summer. Did he fix that?

Nope, I got it from a fella named Adam. It still does the heat thing. It's driven by vacuum so I'll be addressing that very soon. It's still a lot of fun, just not quite as clean now.

So it has a B cam in it?...how is the idle? It would hunt up and down when I had it...better after I found a vacuum line unplugged but still wasn't smooth. I wanted to put a cam in it, but from what I read up on the Mountaineer/Explorer computer , they don't like cam swaps....also it had the horrible stock exhaust manifolds....needs headers, but not many headers out there for v8 Rangers. I took it to the drag strip once, made a couple passes..on street tires..no traction..ran 2 pitiful 15 second passes. The trans didn't want to shift at high rpm.

It idles very well, similar to a Mustang with a b cam. The obdII adapts very well to mods. The trans was gone through a few miles ago with a really nice valve body. I'm about to buy a tuner cause I'll need one with boost.

You are on the money with patience, an understanding wife, and fab skills and $$$$...an engine swap is a never ending project...fact. I will be following yours and good luck. mine is 98 ranger with 90,000 on it, the donor was 97 mountaineer with 140,000..i regasketed the motor..did lots of mods, 4.0 ranger rad, aod trand , awd transfer case but I have man hubs. still have some codes but she runs fine and is fun to drive.
