347 dyno

got the motor back together and dynoed it today it made 508 hp at 6,500 and it had a tq table not a curve it made mid to low 400 tq from 4,600-6500. we stopped it because it is a stock block.

NICE ! Great torque figure.

pearlkid9988 09-15-2014 08:22 PM

Is that for the ranger?! that would be one hell of a street truck lol once it hooks up doubt anything would touch it!

bravetitan24 09-15-2014 08:32 PM

Awesome! I'll have a 347 of my own soon. Hope it pushes similar numbers!

Motor

Yes it's for the ranger but it's not a street truck fuel was like 10.00 a gallon. This is a track only. Thinking of going with a 9 inch and 4:30 gears

pearlkid9988 09-16-2014 06:44 AM

Nice project! Love to see when this thing is done! And yeah $10 a gallon won't cut it on the street.

Scrambler82 09-16-2014 06:45 AM

The 9" is a good choice, the gears ratio will depend on the rear tires and the rpm you want to be turning when you go through the end of the strip.

You want your engine putting out full power, close to full rpms when you hit the final timer.
Post what your times are, will be interesting to see.

What rpms are you expecting .
What about the stock block, they are ok but they will twist up with too much owner.
There is a torque plate that helps some, it is mounted on the main bearing bolts, and is suppose to eliminate block twist.

Luck to ya !

the motor has main cap support. the truck has a cage but some people say its not a legal cage. i was told by the track it was good till a 11.00 i think. i think its going to make a pass to see what it does with the 3:55 gears so we know where we are at. i was thinking 4:30 gears. the motor builder said it shold be a good 6,000rpm motor all day long.

What are you using to tune (or is it carb'd)? A/F ratio is flat straight across the board.

faststang90 09-29-2014 11:31 AM

its carb 750 holley/pro form body

faststang90 03-28-2015 11:08 PM

made a few passes and the best pass was a 12.57@101.89. when you shift into 3rd gear the 1/4 is over so I think the 4:30s are needed.

had it dynoed to the tires and it made 356 HP/ 339TQ. we picked up around 25 hp to the tires and about the same on TQ

bravetitan24 11-10-2015 09:32 PM

Nice!

faststang90 11-14-2015 06:00 AM

made it to the track and it did not pick up as much as I was thinking. best pass was a 11.75 @115. I think the battery went bad because it did not want to start on the last pass

faststang90 12-05-2015 06:55 PM

a little better

a little better

INT3RC3PTOR 01-16-2016 09:58 AM

not bad!

faststang90 01-17-2016 07:37 PM

yeah I checked the plugs today and they was black. I don't know if the colder air made it that way. I'm going to go down a jet size in the front because it does not want to idle. I keep being told from others to go to a 850 carb but holley says it is to big now and I need a 600. I just don't have a extra 900.00 to buy the wrong part.
