would it be to much work or trouble to put a 5.4 instead of a 5.0? If any ideas let me know just an idea not sure about it.

yeah its been done. You will need front end fabrication to make up for the bigger motor and added weight. there is a 2wd that people have posted before that has the lightning motor in it. but it also has a custom front suspension and wider frame up front to clear everything

Doing a 4.6/5.4 isn't as bad as people think. If you want a cool truck that is unique go for it. You don't need to do suspension or frame work. It is not heavier then a 5.0

5.0 is much easier to wire up and fit in.

I don't know off hand, but probably everything. Since the older Explorers with the 5.0s are a RBV(ranger based vehicle) it's very simple to swap a 5.0 in without major modifications.

It would be cool, but just remember that its probably gonna involve a lot of fab work and most likey a partially if not fully custom wiring job. But anythings possible if you want it bad enough.
