87' F-150 Intake manifold
87' F-150 Intake manifold
I am getting my hands on a 87' F-150 W/ 5.0L & Auto. trans, for a swap into my 84' Ranger. My biggest concern with this swap is the Intake manifold, I am sure that it is going to be to tall. This problem is easily fixed by modifying the truck (ie: body lift, cowl induction hood), the problem there is that I want the truck to have that sleeper look and those will throw it off. I know that the truck comes equipped with Speed Density MPFI and a double throttle body. Is there another vehicle that i can take the intake (shorter intake) and tb and use with the F-150 harmess and computer.

yes use a mustang intake on the motor. btw you mentioned body lift. acully a body lift extreamly helps the room in the engine bay for the 5.0l and also clearness for the headers it makes life easier...
Sorry about that, optikal illushun, i was tired when I origonally posted this. I probably should have put it as this and left out all the other crap:
I have a 1987 F-150 donor vehicle for a 5.0 swap The intake on it is to large to fit under my hood. Is there another vehicle that I can get the intake and throttle body off of to replace the stock units, and that will work with the F-150 harness and computer?
I will see if I can find ones from a mustang. And I just found that I don't have to worry if it will get along with the stock computer cause I don't have the compter, got to find one of those to.
BTW, I know that a body lift can help to fit a 5.0, but that I was saying is I'm not going to install a body lift. I also know that the cowl hood will help clerance, but while I need a new hood I don't have 700 bucks to dish out for a cowl induction one right now.

ok cool, u will need the upper and lower just a little FYI.
check LTD, crown vicies, statio wagons, lincolns, mercurys...basically all the bigger ford cars came with the 302 and a smaller intake. but the car intakes exit on the passenger side, opposed to the trucks on the drivers.

Thank you for that info. I think that I read somewhere that you can reverse the upper intake on some cars, have you heard this or am I just remembering wrong. Ok I will be getting the TB and Intake, will I need anything else ie.: fuel rails (since the manfold is taller may be also?), injectors, injector wiring harness, anything else? Would any computer of the same year with same transmission work, if I can't find a new one?
