So I may be able to get a 5.0 & an aod for a really damn good price.... I'm thinking about doin a swap in my '98 4x4, but my question is will it pass emissions/ DEQ with a 302 in it?? I'm guessing its a no, but I wanted to ask to be sure since I can't register it in portland without passing emissions.

 

I don't know DMV laws for OR but in most states the replacement motor has to of the same year or newer and have all of the emission controls installed.

 

Joey.....call Bob's Ford Parts. They are off 190th, between Burnside and Division in the Gresham area. They have a '97 Ranger powered by a Explorer 5.0L. With tons of mods done to it...cams, injectors, They might be able to help you out. I want to buy it.

 

also... when doing the swap, register the VIN #'s from the motor to your truck.. cops can hassle you about that.. found that out the hardway wiht my buddy in his bagged/ body dropped s10 with a 383 blower motor in it ahha. the truck had 3 diff vin numbers on it from being built from 3 diff trucks haha so they went ahead and checked EVERY number haha

also... 20bux extra under the table to a young guy at the inspection place will usually get anything passed hahaha

 

yea shane that truck is sooo bada$$, I checked that thing out awhile ago when I first saw it on craigslist a few months ago. If I had the 6k$ or whatever he wants for the thing I'd be all over it... looks super clean & it's got a freakin 5.0. anyway I'll have to go back & ask how he got it through deq, thanks for the idea
