'88 Ranger 302 EFI swap questions....

'88 Mustang harness and engine into "88 Ranger with a 2.3. What problems or difficulties is there? What has to be done to the harness to make it work? Does a T5 fit OK?

Since no one replied i'll share the little bit I know. You should be able to repin the rangers wiring harness to fit up with the mustangs engine harness and pcm. Long as you have then entire engine harness from the mustang you should be okay. Is it an MAF wiring harness??

Also the T5 will fit, but the shifter well be much farther back than normal. The shifter should come through the trans hump somewhere between the driver and passengers seats, but it has been done before.

One of the main problems with the sway is fitment. You'll have to do a little work to the firewall, or go with a 2 inch body lift, which makes plenty of space for the motor to fit, except for the heater box. There are a couple of different motor mounts out there that positions the motor slightly different in the compartment.

thanks for replying. I thought the engines fit rather easily. I know Mustang convert mounts are used often, they will sit the engine up slightly. I also realize I can sawp the tailshaft of the T5 for a GM type to move the shifter. Any problems with running AC ??

The other clearance is in the front against the radiator you'll have to watch out for. If the tailshaft swap works that would be sweet, make sure to make lots of pictures. You can run AC, it's been done, it just takes some work to make it fit to my understanding (Don't have AC on mine).
