I had this on my comp for comparison..
221-351W* 24" 29" 27.5" 460 lbs.
351-400 C/M 24.5" 29" 28.5" 550 lbs.
429-460** 27" 30" 29" 720 lbs.
352-427 FE# 27" 32" 29" 625 lbs.
4.6L SOHC 28.7" 28" 26" 600 lbs.
4.6L DOHC 30" 28" 30" 576 lbs.
All of these engines have the oil sump in the front, and starters on the right.
Also: You'll prob need everything on the bottom of this list.

A Windsor will have pleanty of room. The hangup will be with the heaterbox and the seam on the cab where the firewall meets the floorpan ( 8lb sledge fixes it ).
A suggestion ( not that its worth anything ) . Find a 92-95 F150 ( effer ) that had a Windsor it in. Steal its ecm, upper and lower intake's and serp. belt system/accessories brackets... wiring harnesses...
The Longblocks are about the same ( small ford ) with minor differences on roller cam modles ( mostly lifter valley changes ) .

If you install an engine like the 92~95 F-series, you will need to somehow convert the returnless fuel system on your Ranger to a return type to match the EFI system of the engine. You will also need to delete the Ranger PATS system. Returnless fuel and PATS are not compatible with the F-series PCM and wiring.

AODE...not the best trans, hope it isnt stock.
pulling an engine from an 87-95 effer would be a good place to look for the wiring, PCM and engine. the intakes for them are REALLY tall however so hood mods may need to be done.
another thing to be aware of, no effers came with a 351/AOD(e) combo. all 351s recieved the E4OD trans. so if using the PCM u'll need to get a tWeeCer or the like and cancel it out as the E4OD is a computer controlled trans. u can probaly use a Mustang 5.0 A6L PCM and be ok.
i think thats it for now...
