Icon7 My 5.0 Swap Project 2009-20??

Ok, here's my story.

I'm 16, I live in Missouri. My father (Marc Arnold for those of you who may have heard of him [Owns the bad *** 9 sec Cobra N/A]) has decided to help me with this particular project.

My older brother owns a Maroon 89' 5.0 and we just put a new engine in it. The old engine was left sitting in the garage for the past month and a half. I say "Lets put this to use and do a Ranger/5.0 Swap".

Now, this block was ripped out of some junkyard car in the middle of nowhere and thrown into his 5.0 some 10 years ago from my knowledge, he tells me it has 264,xxx+ miles on it (HOLY ****) nobody knows for sure. This engine, is the DIRTIEST engine I have ever seen and touched, some parts there is 1/8th in. thick of just gunk. The stock oil pan leaks, but we have an aftermarket pan we are hoping will fit. We will get new lifters, & new heads (maybe). We will need to upgrade the suspension to account for the 100 extra pounds the long block is carrying, and stiffer springs for the front end. I also need a good way to add weight to the back. My dad has a 150lb bumper that may suffice but we will have to see.

Still looking for a cheap Ranger, if anyone in the St. Louis area knows of one it would be greatly appreciated if you could PM me with information.

Got the motor on the engine stand and took off the water pump, heads, intake.

Hah, planning on doing a hot tank most definitely. I refuse to work on something THAT dirty or even put it in a truck.

A question for you guys. What superchargers work well with the 5.0 Engine?

Best regards,
Mike

Kenne Bell is F'in expensive though! lol, Your looking at 3500-5000 for a brand new setup - your best luck is finding one used perhaps - unless of course you have the budget for it!

Quick question for ya too - Are you planning on building the engien up? Perhaps a .030 bore and an aggressive cam for it? Woudl be sex in the engine bay if you made it push out another ~50 horsepower with some bigger injectors, pump, and a good bore on it..!

Ahhhh yes, we're talking about boring it, and we will be getting an Anderson Ford Motorsport Cam in it. We will probably put an MSD Ignition Distributor Cap on there. We need to find out who were going to go with to redo the heads. A new exhaust will be put on and new lifters will be put in.

4500-5000? Nope. That IS the budget Although next year I don't see why I couldn't find a used KB.

I'll update the first post when any progress is made.

Best regards,
Mike

Well, That's the catch. We're still looking for one. We're planning on putting it in a 2001 Ranger. Before we get the truck we're rebuilding the engine.

EDIT: Well my buddy has a 1994 Ranger. $900 good condition.

Best regards,
Mike
