Is there a adapt plate for a 302 to a five speed from a 2.9L

I just bought this ranger and I cannot get the 2.9 running for ****,I have change every sense plugs wires cap rotor distributor ran compresion test which was good,so I said screw it and got the 302 idea, this truck is not really off road more show so I think the light duty trans will be fine if I can get a adapter to match them up.taking all suggestions for this project, never delt with ford before, but I'm quickly converting.thanks

The problem might be that you could destroy that transmission real quick with the power of a 302, lol. If you're going to do the sway, you ought to go all the way I think.

I understand the need to just get it done though. If you do figure it out, just go easy on it.

If your gonna street it with a V8 you will hammer on it and twist that tranny into a pretzel. Just go with a C-6 or C-5 whatever one is the manual. I keep getting confussed right now.

Among Ford transmissions, the C5 and C6 are both automatics. The T5 is a manual.

I agree with the other posts - the manual transmission from the 2.9L will not live behind a 5.0L. It is not worth the effort to adapt it.

Thanks Bob! Transmissions are by no means my strong point. I just know that the power a 302 will put out will eat a stock ranger transmission alive as soon as you hammer on it.
