03 stock 6 disc questions
What does the traffic feature mean on the stock 6 disc? also how does the RDS system work with cd's? just got it today and was browsing thru the menu options just wondering what there uses were
RDS stands for Radio Data System. It will tell you what station you are on and what song is playing or whatever that station chooses to broadcast. It doesn't tell you what is on the CD you have in there. Not sure how the traffic feature works. Check your manual.
From my manual:
"Traffic: Allows you to hear traffic broadcasts. with the feature ON, press SEEK or SCAN to find a station broadcasting a traffic report, (if it is broadcasting RDS data). Traffic information is not available in most U.S. markets."

I can’t find much on the Traffic Feature either.
Probably one of the PAY feature of Broadcast Radio.
Every time I press it I get a message “No Traffic in this area” or something like that.
I press it once in a while on the road just to see what comes in.
The RDS info is interesting but the screen is too small to really get the whole picture at once but still you get the artist and name of the song; not sure if it will feed back to the iPod and record the song for future download.
