6 disc changer to aftermarket head unit

Ok here gos teh questions..

My truck did not come witha 6-disc changer. BUT I was thinking about putting one in b/c my aftermarket head unit has an Auxilary input I can plug it in to.

Will this work or will I have to rewire a lot of stuff to get to to work.

My head unit is the sony fx7700 if that helps.

If you are talking about an aftermarket remote 6-disc changer, that is not difficult. It is meant to be adaptable to many different head units.

But the Ford remote CD changer relies on the OEM head unit to control its functions and provide a display. If that is what you mean, I think it's not practical.

Yes I was wondering if I can make a Ford factory 6 dsc changer work with my aftermarket headunit.

So this is not practical?

My CD6 in an all inclusive system anyways(headunit that sucks up 6 cd's).. It is not a remote mount. I would think your after market head unit would have to be removed and the CD6 put in its place....

I think hes talking about a Ford external 6disc changer. They're pretty common, although I don't think the Ranger ever came with a CD-changer-ready HU.

Oh... two headunits at once? Thats just plain lunacy. That said, if the CD6 headunit is mounted in any orientation other than upright in the dash, the unit will destroy itself in short order. They're not supposed to be powered up at ALL unless level.

I don't think its feasible to try to run dueling headunits.
