advice on amps help plez

so i am runing a 4 gage wire to my 1200w amp. witch is hooked up to 2 12" Subs. i want to add another 800w amp to power 4 of my infinity speakers. so i was thinking of using this spliter thing my friend gave me but the only thing is the 4 gage goes in but it splits it to two 8 gages to run to my amps. is this ok? or does my 1200w amp need a 4 gage to run with out hurting any thing. should i just add a second wire from my battery turmanel thats 8 gage to my 800w amp? and i also have a capacitor laying around should i take the time to charge and install it?

dont mark my word on this one im not sure how the splitter would affect this... but i believe 8 guage is okay uptoo arround 1000-1200 watts.. i would run a separate 8 guage to the 800 watt amp, and keep the 4 guage for your 1200 watt amp, just to be sure everythings running at its best.
the cap would deffinatly be a good idea, considering your planning on running 2000 watts off of your battery

Run 2 gauge for the 1200 watt, and 4 for the 800 watt.

get yourself a new FUSED splitter to put at your battery. run a 1/0 gauge wire from the battery to the splitter, then 2 - 4 gauge wires to each amp. FUSE the wires running to the amp in the splitter.

Something like this:

or you could fuse the 1/0 gauge wire and then run it back by the amps where you then will split it there and fuse the 4 gauge wires there.....

the 8 gauge will hold them down until you can get something bigger so don't worry about it any

trust me i have installed many 2 amp system with 4 gauge. gauge is the smallest i install. i used to have a jl 500/1 and 300/4 running off of 4 gauge into a fused splitter to 8 to the amps.in our trucks the runs arent far so 4 gauge your fine.
