Icon14 Alpine-9886

Well, first off, when I first got the truck from my dad (April of 2006), I installed the Alpine-9815 headunit. By far the best headunit I have ever seen or used. This summer, the laser burned out (I don't know the term, the CD's just won't read). So for christmas my dad got me the Alpine-9886, iPod and USB compatible. Absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking at a headunit to use with their iPod. It used the pre-exisiting wiring harness from my 9815, which I was obviously thrilled about. The display is bright and blue, very user-friendly, and not cluttered. The only dislikes are, the screen doesn't "tilt" like the 9815 did, nor does the face seem to detach (security purposes). On a scale of 1-10, I give this a solid 9. Again, everyone I talk to has looked into this headunit (Shane and Trent among others), so this is more or less just to tell you guys my opinion on it, not trying to ***** pictures. But, here's a few anyway.

The sub its hooked up to, Infinity Basslink

How I ran my iPod/USB cable (to the right of gas pedal, under the dash, to the left of the cupholders)

^The red wire is for my sub, gray is for the USB, and the black one underneath it is for the iPod.

For a 2dr extended cab, the 9886, Infinity Basslink, and 4 Sony xPlod Premier Series 6x8's sound VERY nice. I'd highly recommend this set-up to anyone.

Isn't it lovely? All you got to do is hit that number button and it skips forward through the library, I love it.

I agree I have tried many different Head Units in my competition truck and the Alpines are the best for i-Pod in my opinion.

Basslink is working well! Again, it provides great bass without "overkill". Just wish the rear slider didn't vibrate so bad hahah.

I just installed the 9886 in a 2009 FX4. Even with stock speakers it made things sound soo much better! FYI, the 2009 can use the 2008 wiring adapter w/o any problems.

just read this part ... if a basslink rattles the slider that bad, then my 2 10" infiniti's would do it up too .. i guess getting the solid window does have its advantages.
