looks like the one my friend almost bought. instead he went with one of Kenwood's models. i installed it myself, so there was no labor added to the price. he got the main unit, navy, sirius tuner, some harness that allows you to adapt the steering wheel buttons to the new unit, plus the install and trim kit for right around $2400, if i remember correctly.

the only reason he didnt go with the Alpine is because he didnt' like the idea of having to mount the navy somewhere... he wanted it all in one unit.

$2000 sounds about reasonable i guess..... don't take my word for it though... i haven't been in the market and don't know the pro's and con's or the worth, so it may be good or bad, depending on what others say.

For 2 grand I would want one with the built in navigation and touch screen.

the alpine unit is nice, but that is way too much for that setup. the whole beauty of having the screen is having DVD and NAV all from one screen. all i would just look for an all in one setup. the Pioneer AVIC-D3 is only $1000 and does both DVD and NAV, and the D2 is $500 more for a few more features. just doesn't seem like Alpine is the best option IMO.

Good info on the Pioneer AVIC stuff can be found over at www.avic411.com. I am still chasing a few bugs on the wifes D2. The second sirius tuner seems to have taken a dump and I cant figure out how to register home.

only prob is the d3 doesnt fit the ranger. the bezel is narrowed on the inside to provide a tighter fit. and no one offers a kit either.
So with that being said. I did it myselfe.
Cut the top and bottom of the radio bezel slowly and carefully. checking to see fitmen and necessary adjustments.
then taped the speedo wire and reverse wire.
after that i ran the gps wire threw the windshield trim. unfortunately it will let water threw that way. but i am looking for an alternative root.

And AVIC411.com has a good basis for checking out setups and a couple mods too.

2 grand is a lot of green, that can go a long way on alot of mods! But if the deck is real nasty it might be the way to go!
