Amp help... help teh n00b

Well i just picked up some Alpine Type-R components for the front, and Type-R 6x9's for the rear. i have a Alpine 9857 deck and i think i wanna push them with an amp to get that extra punch. Im pretty damn retarded when it comes to matching audio, so im wondering if anyone can help me pick what size amp etc. i should be looking for.

Here are the specs.

Components: 60w RMS, 300w peak 4ohms

6x9's: 100w RMS, 300w peak 4ohms

i have a jenson 600 watt amp that does 60watts rms per channel. it was only 129.99 and it works great. Ive had it almost a year now..

the only problem with it is that its not small at all lol

so you need an amp that has no more that your lowest RMS # and you add your watts together for peak watts?

i was always confused there, i couldnt remember if the watts they could handle was the total you could have. but if you have two things that can handle 300w. then you could have a 600w amp. i think i get it now

also, do i have to worry about anything as far as ohms? if its a 4ohm speaker setup, i need a 4ohm amp or somthn? cause i know there are 2ohm and 4ohm speakers/subs. i just dont know how to set that part up.

yeah, if the speaker is 4 ohms, then get an amp that is rated at 4 ohm.

alpine speaker ratings are fubar. 300 peak and 60 rms is kinda weird imo. I have boston speakers in the fronts and they are rated at 180 peak and 60 rms.

that 600 watt amp is a 4 channel amp, so its actually 150 watts per channel and 60 rms per channel.

yeah i thought they were weird numbers too, considering they are 300w peake, and only 60rms.

I'd proly be satisfied enough with just my 9857 pushing them, but i thought it'd be nice to through a lil amp in there too.

The Alpine amp I'm using would work nicely.

try and get something thats about 50 watts rms x 4. thats what im running and its LOUD. your head unit also needs a strong voltage on the pre outs. mines 5volts and its shows...or sounds i guess
