amp rms and sub rms question

If your sub's rms range is 50-250 watts @ 4 ohms do you guys think an amp with 200 watts rms @ 4 ohms would be ok? Like the sub will not require so much power that it overheats the amp right? Thanks

The sub can handle as low as 50 watts and up to 250 watts, so your fine. SOMEONE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG. What amp are you going to run? With some amps(Rockford Fosgate) you get more power than you think. You should be alright as long as you are running just that one sub.

That sounds right to me. Is that a single voice coil sub?

There's the sub.

EDIT: I found on there it say's its not a dual voice coil so it's a singe I guess.

I'm just going to get a cheap amp cause I don't really need expensive stuff cause I don't really wanna spend much on this system.

I think I'm going to go with this amp

Couldn't I find a 2 channel amp that's bridgeable and just do that? Cause I wanna go as cheap as I can kinda but can't really find any cheaper monoblock amps. Any help would be great!

I would like to stay under $200 for the sub and amp. Here's 3 amps I found. I think I'm going to go with the profile ap400 and run it briged.

EDIT: and with that profile ap400 I might beable to stay under $200 for the total project.

Yeah, I have my bro's old wiring from his previous set up so that's no problem there.

I've ruled out getting that BOSS amp, I'm going to go with one of the 2 profiles. I think I'm going to get the cheaper one though because it's got the same rms watts. The other one does look cooler but I'm goin for cheap on this system.

I have a question on wiring. That amp needs 6ga power cables. If you have 4ga power cables can you connect a 4" or so piece of 6 ga to the 4ga so it can be hooked into the amp? Cause my bro's old power cables are 4ga...

After looking on ebay, I found this amp http://cgi.ebay.com/PROFILE-HA1040-B...QQcmdZViewItem
It's rms at 4 ohms bridged is 225watts so that's closer to the max of 250watts. I'm also planning on getting new speakers to so I could power 2 of them with the amp. It's ok to run a 4 channel amp only using 2 of the channels? Like, bridging 2 of the channels to run my sub then the other 2 channels will not be in use untill I get new speakers. So that will be ok won't it?

Guess I could just cut off some of the wire for that 4ga to fit in a hole that accepts up to 6ga, couldn't I?

And I've decided. I'm going with the profile ap400 amp with the pioneer 10" slim sub with a custom box coming out to be .406cu ft

Started construction on my box tonight. Turns out I didn't really plan good enough, but it's comming along.

Blahh.. Some of my measurements when cutting got off somehow. I triple checked most of them to.. It is coming along though just gonna have to trim up a few pieces and cut some angles where it goes together and it will be almost done.

The pioneer 10" slim sub and the Profile Ap400 should be on their way today. Ordered them last night. Came to about $170 with shipping, for that sub alone on crutchfield it's $180 lol

Oh, and I got a free amp wiring kit from a friend for installing his headunit. First time I'd ever done it but damn was it easy.
