Audiobahn 15"
I'm looking at buying an Audiobahn 15" sub. It's the AW1571SE. A buddy of mine in high school had two twelves and they were loud as hell. I can't find any reviews for this sub though. I was just wondering if anyone had ever heard one. I know audiobahn makes fairly good quality products so I'm not too worried but wanted your opinions.

not to stomp on anyones feet or anything but
STOP TELLING PEOPLE TO SEARCH
of course by doing that i just became a therefor mentioned minimod lol
anyways, just out of curiousity why a 15"? why not a coupla of 12"s? I havent heard many 15's but i would think 12's would be plenty unless you were going for all out *vibratethesnotouttayournose* power, but even then, a nice wall of 12's will accomplish this well, and save you some money on boxes im sure... just a thought and its IMO.

1) HOW WELL THE BOX IS TUNED FOR THE SUBWOOFER AND BUILD QUALITY
2) Sd (Cone Surface Area)
2) XMAX (Maximum Linear Cone Excursion)
3) RMS Power Handling (duh...)
I know there are 2 two's... I think they are equally important in these issues.
A 12" sub could whoop a 15" IF AND ONLY IF it is installed in a high quality box that is tuned very well and if 2, 2 and 3 excede the 15" subwoofer's specs.
Now, with 2 12" subwoofers, this isn't as hard. BUT, the box may have to be much larger and it may not be feasible to tune the box to beat the performance of the 15" subwoofer. Plus... you can tune the box of a 12" lower and use a vent/port with a larger area and a shorter port.
Here's what I'm saying-->
Crappy sub + Crappy box = Crappy Sound
"Good" Sub + Crappy Box = Crappy Sound
Awesome Sub + Crappy Box = Crappy Sound
There's really no way around it. Most subwoofers in certain price ranges are pretty much the same until you get up into the competition subwoofer level.
ALL IN ALL, IT DEPENDS ON YOUR APPLICATION (MUSIC, SQ/SPL), WHAT SOUNDS GOOD TO YOU, AND WHAT IS IN YOUR BUDGET
YOU HAVE TO WORK YOUR WAY THROUGH WHAT YOU MAY THINK SOUNDS GOOD TO WHAT REALLY SOUND GOOD ------> TO YOU.
It could be 1 10" in a sealed box or 3 12" subs in an Aperiodic membrane enclosure or a wall of 15" subs with a vent/port you could walk through.

the reason why i have ***** is because i am not new to audio, or to rangers, or to forums. and it pisses me off when people tell others to use the search function. I'm from RPS, and there the mods dont care about it, but it can frustrate the posters. thats why i am in process of leaving rps, where my post count is 7XX.
in responce to the subwoofers, the reason i ask is because i know 15" subwoofers sound good, but they will consume a large amount of space, even if in a sealed enclosure. i was talking a wall of 12's, not 2 12's. I just think that if you have the right budget a wall of 12's can fit the need for any type of music you would like to listen too
I have 2 10" subwoofers in individual sealed boxes in my single cab '95. its a '95, which means it has the least cab space behind the seats of any ranger. its powered by 280 watts rms, wired in 2-ohm stereo, and i havent gone to a comp yet, but several people that do competitions, including a former record holder, have said that my subs would hit 130's-140's. all of this system was installed by my self.
I am not new to car audio, but i am not saying i know all there is to know, but i do think if his budget is right, that he should go for it, but if he likes all types of music, then 12's would be a better option becuase the cone travel is shorter. IMO

just a suggestion, i have found that the more research and more opinions you get on an option even if they completely argue with your main point, you are more informed for the decision you make, and you make a better decision.
