Breaking-In New Sub
Breaking-In New Sub
So, I have read all kinds of information on breaking in new subs before crankin' them. Some say take it easy on them and others say let it rip from the get go. Is this true or is it a bunch of wives'-tales and myth?
If you are supposed to break in a sub, what's the rule of thumb?
FWIW- the sub in question is a brand-new Kicker 12" L5.

from what i've read, you should break it in slowely so it will last longer and such. id say just turn the amp up a little bit every few days. then, depending on how much you use it, or drive/listen to music, you can just go from there...

i dont think i have broken in my subs. my first sony went after almost 3 years and i think it was because i had stuff in the trunk and they bashed into it. The sub i replaced it with is still fine 2 years later with no break in. never even heard of that.
