Center console became home to radio

took my brothers radio that he never used, and mounted it in my center console, just enough room, wouldnt fit in the dash, thats the new home to the cb, the cb and radio are both surrounded by some nice aluminum, and the radio is hidden under the lid of the center console and the arm rest, makes the truck look less wanting to steal from, who wants to steal a 30 dollar cobra cb from me? i dont know of anyone, i will make a howto for this when i get some time.

Very nice idea -- how do you get the heat out of the center console when the radio is cranked?

the cb and the radio are both currently surounded by a heavy guage aluminum, and i have to clean up some small, very thin 9x12 inch sheets of brushed aluminum to hide my screws and bolts, the radio does not get hot, ive had it cranked today, with my amp all the way up and volume all the weay up, for over an hour and it stays very cool, it doesnt have large heatsinks either, but i still gotta finish the cover for the console, to make it look like a stock console. and sometime i gotta make a bracket for my cb antenna, so its more secure, right now, its held on by the stock magnet, in the middle of the roof. i gorilla glued a piece of a very thin mousepad to the bottom of the magnet to protect my paint, although its not the best condition paint, id like to prevent further scratches.

Okay, if you have power amps externally then they're doing all the work. Nice job!

When you get it how you like it, I would like to see pics of what you did.
