Finally got pics of my first mod up...!!!

Well, after having my Ranger for about 3 months, I decided to do a mod, after searching for what that mod should be, I decided to put 2 8'' Sony Xplod's in the rear of my cab underneath the fold-down seats.

Jump a month later, and here we are with pictures to boot!

If anyone is thinking about a good cheap easy mod, this is the way to go. It is space efficient, and hits pretty hard.

The only thing I would...and will change for the future is to get a bigger setup, I could have easily put in 10"ers and a 500 watt amplifier under my seat...But hindsight is 20/20...

I am very happy with my set up now...I am just waiting for some more dough to roll in so I can hook up the exterior of my truck now!! And maybe some cheap easy mods along the way...painting interior parts (door parts & radio bezel) and possibly the grill. (Probably paint them chrome)

Thanks,

--Jamison

size dont really matter, its all about how u use it....

keep the good work rollin

Looks good man. Good job! Yeah, the first thing I did to my truck was put in my 12" Infinity and my Pioneer 760w Max (380x1 RMS bridged) amp. It really is true that size doesn't matter. There really are only two things that matter IMO: how much power the sub can handle (and yes there are MANY 10's that will outdo a 12" or even a 15"), and how much RMS you're running to that sub(s). It doesn't matter if you're running a 12" or 10" because if you're only putting 125w to that 12" and 250w to the 10" then the 10" will definitely hit MUCH harder, as well as, if a 12" is only rated for 300w RMS and a 10" is rated for 500w RMS, then the 10" will dominate.

Yeah, I guess I can always increase my size, it is always good to start low, so I dont out do myself to early...Once I get the cash flow going, I can always pawn off my subs to a friend and increase the size...

My system is pretty good, as compared to my friend's...but that isnt saying much considering as I havent even graduated high school yet...

Haha...

Later guys

Not neccessarily. If you remember anything from Physics or just plain math, you would know that the amount of air swept by the cone produces bass and the speed at which it does, determines the frequency. Those 2 8" subwoofer together could sweep more air than a single 10" subwoofer. That's the idea behind most SPL applications. High excursion and high cone area. Also, efficiency can also affect how loud or low the bass will go. For example, an Infinity Kappa Perfect 12" has an efficiency of 96dB/1W@1M and an Image Dynamics IDMAX12D2 has an efficiency of 93dB/1W@1M. With that seperation of only 3dB, the Infinity is literally twice as loud as the Image Dynamics subwoofer. But the Image Dynamics subwoofer has a larger cone area and cone excursion, as per it's design, and so they would probably come out even. Speaking of cone area, if you increase the cone area of a subwoofer in a system, you increase the efficiency of the system by 3dB, which makes it twice as loud. If you were to biamp the system, it would quadruple the loudness, at least. Now, do you still think that if youdouble the power of a 10" subwoofer versus a 12" subwoofer it will "hit" harder?...

Really dude, I wasn't trying to get into all that. I'm merely stating that just because a woofer is larger, it doesn't mean it's going to produce more bass than a woofer that's smaller, based solely on size. What I'm trying to say is that if you have a 12" woofer that's rated for say 250w RMS, 500w Max and a 10" woofer that's rated for 500w RMS and 1000w Max (i.e. a Pioneer 12" vs. a JL 10w7), that the 10" will outdo the 12" simply because it can handle more power. And yes, I do believe that if a person is running a single 12" @ 250w RMS versus another person that is running a single 10" @ 500w RMS that the 10" will be louder. Do you disagree?

Basically, what I'm trying to say is, I'm not questioning your logic/mathematics/physics/etc. I'm saying that I was never even comparing two even subwoofers...all I said was that one could handle more power than the other. So are you telling me that a 12" running 250w RMS (running, not rated for) will outdo a 10" running 500w RMS simply because it has more surface area and is more efficient?
