finally got a sub
finally got a sub
well guys i just got a sub after a year of wanting one. i picked up a infinity reference 1252w for 30 brand new and it still has the plastic wrap on it. i need some advice on a amp and box. here it is
You'll need about 1.25 cubic feet for a sealed box. I'd stick with sealed unless you want to lose all your space in the back haha. Also make sure it is pointed to the back of the truck or downfiring. I'm using a prebuilt box(I'll find the link) that's made for the rangers. Its slightly smaller than what your sub calls for but just slighlty(you could always use some polyfill or buy a spacer ring to mount it)
Also I lined the box with dynamat
I just picked up an infinity as well and from what I gather they can take a beating as far as how much power you can put to them!
I'm putting about 450 watts to mine which is rated at 350 watts. Sounds perfect to me!

Sorry for the double post-on my cell haha
Ford Ranger Extended Cab 1983 - 2010 Single 12" Custom Sub Box Sealed Enclosure (Black) - 1X12FORD-RNGR
$30 was a decent deal. Its a discontinued model. Still sells for $70 on most sites.
Forgot to mention this- careful with advertising on amps haha. It might say 400 watts on it but it might be a 4 channel or 2 channel. If its 2 channel make sure you can bridge it

i got it on craigslist. when it comes to systems i am clueless. so any help is greatly appreciated. i was thinking of building my own box. i plan on making it similar to the one posted above.
okay guys im going to do the instal tommorrow or saturday. ive been looking at my firewall for a place to run the power wire through. i can find a place can someone help or atleast give me a general direction of how to run it?
basically behind your brake pedal. You'll see ar ubber plug in the wall and you can half pull it out then stick a cable through. Then run it underneath your floor cover(or behind the kick trim, to the door trim(the gray plastic piece) that you can pup out and hide the cable beneath it. I wish i had pics but just realize that all the trim in your truck has room for wires behind it.
^ditto
And your rca cables for your amp are pretty easy as well. Alittle tricky to feed through but I ran mine down behind the ash tray. Then under the glove box and behind the kick panel on the passenger side. Should also be able to fish it striaght behind the glove box and down also I was just being lazy haha
