Help with premium sound system

Hey guys i just got my new HU today and i put the harness together, put it in the truck and there is no sound. All the functions work except the most important part, the sound! The harness is one i got from best buy its a metra 70-5600. this harness is for the vehicles with premium sound systems. Is there something i was supposed to connect for the amp or something... i really need your help! Thanks.

the premium sound systems have i believe 3 different harness.......i had to go through all 3 to find the correct one for my truck.....take a digital pic of your factory plug, then take it to best buy so they can match it up to the correct one.....i had the same problem.....

the reason for the differences is that some have an amp and some dont....just little options like that!

if your truck has a factory amp, then the wiring harness will bypass it........i dont think they have a harness adapter to connect the stock amp......the aftermarket radio you have has a better amp in it than the factory amp....

you should check your wires make sure you have them at the correct spot.......no the amp is completely bypassed with an aftermarket radio...

You dont have sound because your speakers are plugged into the amp and the amp is not turned on. If your wire harness for the new headunit came with an amp turn on, you need to attach that to the amp turn on wire on the stock wire harnesst. As long as your new HU doesnt put out more then 35W it will work with no problems. If it puts out more then that, then you are supposed to by pass the amp by unplugging the inputs going to the amp and tieing them in with the outputs to the speakers coming from the amp.

It is not bypassed when hookuped with the stock wiring because the speaker wires are still going through that amp. Unlsess he unplugged them and ran the wires directly to the speakers (which it sounds like he didnt) those wires are still going to the amp and the amp needs to be turned on to work.

This sounds like my 1st car, i had a 93 ford probe and it had a factory amp...well i got a harness and nothing worked....so i took it back and ghetto rigged it...got a wiring diagram and found out what wire went to the amp....Put the ignition wire to the amp so it turned on when the key was on and then found out what wires went to what....so you probably need to get a diagram and find out what wire is what....Or take a picture of what your stock head unit and your plug ins look like so someone with that set up can tell you

You shouldnt need anymore input, hook up the turn on wires and I think you are good to go.

Let us know how it turns out.
