Icon5 How do you like your Pioneer AVIC D3?

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in the Pioneer AVIC D3 unit for my FX4. I want a double-din sized unit that has GPS, DVD, Bluetooth and iPod controls, and this seems to be a decent one at a wallet-friendly price. I see that several people on this site have one and I was just wondering, overall, how do you like the unit. What do you and don't you like about it?

I know about the fact that it only has one disc slot, but I'm not concerned about that. I also know about the fact that you have to use the iPod to control when videos are playing through the iPod. Other than these minor issues, what can you tell me about the D3 that might not be apparent to someone who's just started looking into it?

Thanks in advance for any input. This is my first post here and I'm looking forward to many more!

Just for giggles, I'll ask: If you have an Ipod video, will it show the video on the screen? That would be cool. :)

Actually, yeah. Are there any quirks with the nav feature on it? Does it have any lag updating if you miss a turn or anything? And how detailed (I guess, zoomed in) does the city street mapping get? I'm new to the GPS stuff, so I'm not sure if there's any other questions I should be asking regarding that feature.

i have not used it for some time but to me it really dosent have any quirks, well maybe i did put address in and it took me to a diff house but it could be my falt but i think you can buy updated nav cds for you will have to check. it has 2 nav cds one for east and one for west so i live in mi and i could leave and go to alaska. if you miss a turn or want to go a diff way it updats right away and shows most city streets. it does the job i want it to. when on nav it can show you your speed, rpm ( i think ) and some other cool options. go to a stereo shop and ask about it, its worth it to me. any more Q

Sounds cool. I was planning on buying one with my tax refund, but after Turbo Tax just ruined my idea with a much smaller return than I was hoping for, I'm going to have to come up with other funding for it.

Wrong, All you have to do is ground the park brake wire, that or put it on a switch
