How much did you pay ?

How much has everyone paid roughly for their sound systems?

I want a good sound system but I can't drop my life savings into it.

I've been reviewing crutchfield for a couple days and I'm thinking of going with a component speaker set (speakers, tweeters, and crossovers) first, but it seems a bit too much money. Also, looking for amp and subs. but what order to go in?

just wondering how much money everyone put into theirs. seeing as i have a 99 truck with 133k miles on it, i want some sound for now but don't feel like breaking the bank whenever the truck isn't going to last forever.

But I salvaged the head unit from my old car, and the subs from my old car. I spent $30 on the amp and $45 on wiring/mounting kit.

hi

i spent maybe 2000 bucks but could of gotten it all for maybe 900 if i would of being a lil smarter... i also suggest that the way to start is by buying a bass amp followed by the subs and of course the wiring cables. dont stress out too much about the highs....im thinking that a descent sound system for a ford ranger would be anywhere around 400 to 500 bucks.

Just a suggestion, crutchfield is a good place to look and read reviews etc. But you can buy most everything they have for less from other places. eBay is a good place to look. I have bought things from woofersetc.com and had good results. Just make sure you do some pricing before buying.

$170 for the head unit.
$120 for the speakers.
So $290~$300 alltogether.

etronics.com isn't bad for prices and I just purchased my 6x8 4-way Pioneers from Newegg.com for $63 w/shipping. Cheapest price.

Also overstock.com isn't bad either.

2k for top of the line JL Audio. I loved it. I could care less for more than a stock stereo now though.

Buy your head unit from them. They include the mounting kit and wiring harness for free ($25-$40 value) that ussually off sets the higher price.

My last truck had some Alpine 2 ways ($150 for all 4) all around, a JVC HU ($110) and a basslink sub/amp combo ($125), more than enough for me. can find cheaper speakers and get the same quality as well

I have about $850 in my system with a stock head unit, but the 4 gage wiring for two amps and a capacitor was a good chunk of that.

just buy everything from onlinecarstereo.com and install it yourelf for example a pioneer HU http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=17383 $123
and 4 rockford fosgate speakers http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=17106 $124
and a 10 inch kicker subwoofer in a kicker box http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=19797 $148
and a alpine mono block amp http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=19251 $149

then i would buy the HU install kit and the amp install kit from walmart which is about $75and that should sound pretty darn good for 620 bucks....but there is still cheaper stuff than this but you get what you pay for.

Well the local dealer wants $379 for the unit plus $30 for trim kit and wire harness and $50 to install. It's a Pioneer with bluetooth and Ipod hookups with remote. I could buy it from Crutchfield but I have never done a stereo install. So I am not sure if I should even try iit.

Well if you're looking at Crutchfield you're already going to spend too much money. Definitely hit ebay. I paid 200 for my Alpine head unit like 6 years ago now but it's made it from my Nissan to my truck, 110 for 4 Pioneer 6x8's, 200 for a Kenwood amp and I have like 300 in the subs for boxes and all.
