Ipod adapter PassPort Scosche

Today i purchased the Scosche Ipod Adapter for the truck and it does not work. For those of you that don't know what I am talking about here is a link: Charging Adapter

Now Im not sure if the cord i have is wrong or what not but i have a friend who bought the same thing for his G35 and it worked perfectly. I have an alpine headunit with that ipod cord that plugs into the bottom. It used to charge the older ipods but the new ones just don't charge, i think its because they use firewire. So if anyone can shed some light on why this is NOT working that would be wonderful.

The new ones don't use firewire... they changed the pins or something like that inside the connector. What were you trying to use it with?

I am trying to charge my iphone and ipod touch while plugged in. Im already able to control my devices (ipod) through the head unit. I bought the adapter because it supposedly enables devices that don't charge, do. Im thinking the adapter piece turns the end into firewire, but still enabling you to control the device from the head unit. I just don't get why it's not CHARGING.
