stay away from kicker subs, they sound like crap, look at 2 12 or 15" DC lvl 4s they will destroy the l7!

A massive sealed box is completely counter-contradictory to sound quality.

You either have a small sealed box, or a big ported box - you dont mix them.

When dealing with kicker subs, you have to break them in. That is key to them lasting.
Just build a box that equals the airspace needed for the sub. That is where it was designed to run best. Kicker does not lie on their air space. It is right on the head.

Kicker why?

I thought you wanted something that everyone else in your small town doesn't have.
so much more out there.. Image dynamics, JL, Alpine, PheonixGold, Orion, Infinity, JBL, Dayton, Sundown, RE, etc... etc...
all of those brands make subs that would put those kickers to shame. for less
show your friend up by using better, cheaper, more efficient setup.
you don't have much power available with that amp.
only thing good kicker ever made was large a/b amps in the early 90's like the one pictured above. the rest is just over-marketed interesting-looking junk.

Ive got beef with audio companys that spend more on looks and marketing then they do on speaker quality and engineering.

if you need to have the box built let me know and i can build one for you, just need to know what the air space that is needed and what the sub size is, i built my own box for my extended cab and it really makes the sub hit hard

no one has subs here, hence kicker. I've only had alpines, and my friend has had jl and kicker. I didn't like his jl, but his kicker is alright. I was looking at RE. but I'm not one to buy something I know nothing about. can't really find many reviews on RE stuff. so if you can refer me to anything that I can get two or three of, and bump, send some info my way.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks. I was just gonna build my own, cos its really not that hard. as long as you know dimensions and everything for the sub.

well for RE dont even look at the new "X" line crap. get the older SE or SX. i had a 15" SX and i was loud. but i would also look at DC, they have amazing CS and the products are amazing.

^^^ Yea that. ^^^
I used to be a kicker guy, but as you've already heard you can get better for cheaper. Don't get me wrong kicker l7s will slam in a ranger. And if I were you I'd build a ported box for the l7s. If you had say the cvrs, I'd stay sealed, but the l7s will be better ported, if the box is built to spec.
