k so whats a good 10" sub that can handle 300rms + for less than 100 bucks if i cant get one for less than that ill keep this one til its fried i guess.

 

sony xpold... my friends got one in his bmw... its nice... 1100W max 350rms...

 

The sony subs are good, JUST make sure it's the P5 series (shaped like a pentagon). The rest are lightning audio quality.

P.S. You're not limited to 10". Just remember top mounting depth is your main concern. The secret is an good box design to make the most of the area behind the seat. Place the sub behind the passenger seat, and make sure you get a grill for it. That will let you lean the passenger seat against the grill. It'll slightly muffle the sound(doubt it's noticable though) , but it'll give you the most passenger room. Plus that will help secure the box to the cab, as you don't want it moving around at all.

audiobahn 10" speakers are $50 a piece, they go for 300 watts a piece

 

only thing good about audiobahn's are to plug them into a 120 line and watch them blow apart.. their quality is no good, and their reliability is just not reliable..

theres a couple brands out there that have 10"s for about 100.. maybe 125.. somewhere in there.. like i mentioned in the other thread that got locked.. jl's 10 series are great.. they're gonna be at the top of your price range tho, maybe a tad over.. but, well worth it if you're looking for somethin to thump better than your infinity did.. sony's p5 models are alright, could have been a little better for sony, but alright.. then again.. i think they run upwards of about 160 or so.. i might be wrong tho on that.

 

i dislike sony... they do what it says on the sub they xplode... i wouldnt by a sony if it was $5 maybe i would so i could just blow it up....

 

I know it's nowhere near $100, but I'd suggest checking out the Brahma from Adire Audio

 

Hmmm. Someday I'll post a movie of the change that bumps around inside of my cup holders, or the hot wheel truck (a mini ford ranger of course) that looks like it's on hydralics from the bass. All from a 12" audiobahn in a sealed enclosure.


Jeff, I fit this Sony SUB in my old '03 reg cab, and it is 5 5/8" top mount depth. See the attached blueprint too for the box. But the real kicker is that this 12" version only needs 5 1/4".

This blueprint will take 1-2 clicks off the maximum extension of seats.

 

out of all fairness tho.. if i punch hard enough on the center hub that the cupholders sit on.. the pennies jump

best of luck if you go with audiobahn i guess.. audiobahn is known for poor reliability.. if you're going to have it kicking constantly and want more than the infinity was able to handle, i dunno.. i just wouldnt go with audiobahn.. just saying it out of experience.. too many times do you see or hear of thier amps and equipment, etc. being repaired.. they build their product for show, and spent too much on fancy flamed baskets and amps and displays, etc, rather than on quality.

by the way.. what kind of amp do you plan on powering the 10 inch sub

i actually bought a 12" JBL 1k watt 400rms sub at my local audio shop for $100, and im runnin a lil autotek amp about 200watts rms and it's a good thumper for a double cab. I havent had a single problem with em

eh i re-sodered the tinsle lead on my sub and it hasnt happend again yet i think ill just keep it and i do already have a box and amp and everything im not a novice to this stuff

 

hmmm.......i've got a Rockford RFD2210 sub that i might sell. It's slightly used....but can handle 500 watts RMS and 1000 max.

 

Polk Db 10"s i Have two on a Rockford 2 Channel and they useto hit veeeeeery well. Still do Wonders for my ranger

 

So u got an amp and no speaker... I got two 12 inch RF subs (100 rms, 200 max) in a box inside my room, i thought they were runts so im not going to use them. So I know your pain of having Half a system. It was a beeotch to find a great amp for those speakers.

 

Im gonna have to say rockford, just because i am biased. i blew, in order, 4 sony xplodes, 2 audiobahns, and 4 kenwood excelons over the course of 8 months. i got my rockford p2's (about $115 to $125) about a year ago and i couldnt have been happier. i have 2 10's and 2 12's and i havent blew a single one of them yet. thank god for the best buy 4 yr warranty. 20 bucks extra on each one, and they will replace them if you blow them. honestly tho, "hitting hard" has alot to do with the box you get. port it if u want real punch. seal it if you want better response. i have the 12's behind the seats for earth moving in a huge ported box (backseats? we dont need no stinkin backseats), and the 10's for more mid to high level bass in a smaller sealed box facing up on top of the bigger one. if you are just going to put just one in your truck tho, get a 12 in a big ported box. just put it this way, mines a 2000 ranger, and i have had to remount the headliner twice from vibration. my dash is coming loose. my hearing is shot. i cant play any music in the school parking lot b/c every car alarm in the thing will go off. just go big or go home. if you want alot of sound, tho, get the sub, but amp your speakers as well. biiig difference compared to stock.

 

Alpine Type X, Fosgate Power Stage 2, Kicker L7, JBL GTi (if you can find one) are all top notch from what I've heard.

 

Eclipse or Alpine type X would be my next sub.

 

i've been thru a few different brands.. im pretty much gonna have to stay with eclipse when the day finally comes to get new subs.. they've done best overall compared to anything else i've tried or heard.

bigolbubba, you're using 10" subs as mids? what are they tuned at?

 

you can get a dual 10" MTX roadthunder, only 100$ from cardomainstore.com. they put out 400rms together so its right in the range you want. ive never delt with MTX so i dont know how good these subs are but people seem to like them in the reviews

 

...lol, guys, by the way, 2004edge posted about a week ago that he was keeping his sub set up for now... i guess we could keep the topic going tho so further down the line, when the time comes, he could already have suggestions and what not.
