my project...
it also doesn't matter how loud you can get something if the quality isn't there.
i originally had a 15" eclipse in my truck, just the entry level one. it got really loud, but it wasn't as crisp as i wanted.
i upgraded my amp and went to a competition level eclipse titanium 15" and it made a world of difference. it prolly wasn't much "louder" but it hit so much nicer.
in my next truck, i think i'll be happy with just a couple of nice 12's. i don't need something to rattle my truck to pieces anymore. just something to add some nice bass to my music...

but, thats the reason im going with 2 10's. 15's imo are wayyy to sloppy, i want tight accurate bass. and the subs i chose are pretty high quality. im running a single 12" version of them so i know what im in for. im not going w/ SPL, im shooting more for SQL, loud and yet clear

that car is doin 150+ on a daily show basis. it has since been upgraded to 2-6500rms amps, have another sub sittin here, 3 more batteries, and a second alternator for a seperate 17volt power supply. anthony is more of a friend than a customer, but build tally is in the neighborhood of $7-8k+

I've seen this done on a sony xplod and powered it with 4000w in a ported box... some pretty neat stuff, but it only lasted about 3 cycles and blew lol, that was after hitting in the 140s.

pretty much what shawn said, when you spend 80+hours testing a system prior to a show, you try many configuratins of the box. in that time of moving 88lbs subs in and out leaks are created. the face is 3-4 pieces of 3/4" MDF. i forget the correct amount of layers.
it also has over 160sqft of dynamat extreme. its a very low mileage mitsubishi eclipse that now gets like 10mpg
