Finally got it done........2 12" Rockford fosgate P1 subs. Space was pretty limited, but managed to get them back there without losing any leg room. Its running off the factory HU and I used a converter (I couldn't get the HI input to work, so I gave up). It sounds pretty good, accept that the wood is vibrating on itself in a couple places cause I didn't put enough screws, so its only running on maybe a 1/4 of its potential cause I cut the gain down so the vibration wasn't loud......hopefully I can put more screws in it tommorrow, so I can turn the bass up more. Ok heres the pics...........Not very good pics, cause I had to use the flash, and it was alittle dark. I'll get better ones when I get completely done with it.

yea, I was starting to run out of time, so I just threw all the wires behind the amp, away from the power wire. I'll fix it when after I fix the sub box tommorrow.

nice man, my friend has 3 15" p1's in his cherokee, its loud lol. he used to have 2 12's and 2 15's but 1 12" blew so he just got a new box for 3 15's.

Turns out, the end of the magnets on the subs were hitting the back wall of the box as the bass hit, causing it to make a loud vibration, and I missed 2 rows of screws, making the box not sealed good at all.....not sure how I missed them. Anyways, I fixed all the problems, and it does sound pretty good even using the converter and factory HU. Best part is that I didn't spend a dime putting the system in my truck, since I already had the subs/amp/wiring.

Hmm...this is intriguing...

I also have a reg cab truck and am trying to find a way to fit a sub. Honestly, it looks like the way you did it is the most efficient/cheapest way to get it done. Fiberglassing might fit better allowing more volume for the sub, but will cost more and be a PITA.

So are each of the subs in a chambered box? Or do they share volume?

How big of an interior volume do the subs have? It looks really narrow for a 12", so I'm guessing the subs don't hit all that low and don't sound too boomy. Is that the case? Or do they sound fine?

How did you design the box? Just measure, guestimate, and cut the box according the guess? Or did you test it and trimmed until it fit?

And how deep are the subs?

Do the cones hit the back of the seat?

 

I am a little worried about the box size and how it makes the sub sound, so I was thinking about making a similar sized box as yours (spanning behind the driver's seat, center, and partly behind the passenger seat), but only putting a single 10" inside. Do you think a small-box 10 with a bigger box will hit as low as 2x12"s in the same sized box?

 

Both subs share the same area, no divider in the middle. Im not sure on how much volume there is on the inside of the box, im going to say probably around .50 cubic feet, which is about .75 below the recommended volume. I think its pretty good considering the volume of the box, and im running 125rms to each sub. Its a sealed box, and after I got it sealed up good, the bass is really tight. Im not sure how low these are suppost to hit (my last box wasn't much bigger), but if you are standing outside the truck (next to the window) you can feel the bass (and hear) it some, again im sure it would hit alot harder and deeper if you had more watts powering them. As far as making the box, I set the seat where I wanted it, and took the measurements, the seat isn't all the way back against the wall, but its still far enough back to still have plenty of leg room. The subs are 5 3/8" deep from the mounting surface. And no, they dont hit the back of the seat, I have the seat set about 1/2 off the subs.
