Need help with choosing a system

Im not very knowledgable on car audio but i know i wanna do alpine for the most part. Heres what i wanna do. I have a 2002 ford ranger ext cab

I do wanna do 2 12" subs, going to replace all the 5x7 speakers which there are 4, new head unit. and idk what size amp i need to power the 2 12's. I also need to know if its worth hooking the 4 5x7s to a amp or if there to small to matter. i was thinking a 1200w kenwood or alpine, for the subs do i want 4ohms or 2ohms?

Headunit<-- the one i like :D
4 ohm type-R 2 ohm type-R<-- those subs. either 2ohm or 4ohm idk
And for the amp idk what to look for yet, mono/2/4 channel?

Get a 1 channel mono amp for the subs and definately get a 4 channel amp for the speakers! its almost pointless to upgrade speakers if your not gonna give them the power they need.

I wouldn't get a 5ch amp... get a 4ch amp and a SEPARATE mono block amp

Depends on what subs you're running... Dual or single 4ohm voice coil?

the higher the ohm, the better the sound... the lower the ohm, the more power the sub can handle.

You could go with their PDX series amp... I'd go with nothing less than a 750-800 RMS mono block amp to them... Wire them in series too

I've got 2 of the dual 4ohm subs and love em.. The 2ohms will handle more, but you lose sound quality and unless you're gonna compete it's not gonna be worth it.

I'd run this. It's stackable with other amps without over heating, they're small and easy! Just the only thing is is they're not cheap

i would spend the money on a set of GOOD components up front, instead of 4 5x7s... with 2 12"s in the back rear speakers would be pointless.
but if you want to do all 4 door speakers, i have some JL TR 5x7s for sale, im on the NW side of Houston

I don't want to take from your thread but could someone tell me why you need this stuff? Why do you want something that thumps and rattles your vehicle? I like my ears.

why listen to the music when you can FEEEL the music! haha
but as far as putting an amp on door speakers... it is a BIG difference in sound quality and you can hear the full range of music.

ive had 4 12"s in my last truck in a ported box and it was insanely loud and ridiculous, but tuned right it would get loud and still give awsome SQ

Same for me (or what's left of my ears...).
That's why I only have 1 8" in there right now. Might go for a second one later. About the same as having a loud and clear stereo inside a (very very small) bedroom.

-Chance

ps- Trying to eliminate the rattles as I go...

dude you should get 2 12" Infinity Perfects. they are cheap and pound really hard and sound good. and you should get a kicker zx 1200.1 they have lots of power and will make it loud as hell
