My stock cd player **** on me today and i need a new one. I was lookin at either the Kenwood KDC-MP5032 or the Alpine CDA-9857. I know the old alpines were better, but i need somethin now and i wanna buy one new. Which on you all think? I dont want clarion, and i dont really want pioneer either. But i'm open to suggestions.

try to keep the options to those 2 headunits, because im pretty set on one of those. out of those, which do you like better?

 

I would go with the alpine, I have had bad expeiriences with kenwood.

I have only owned 2 kenwoods, this was about 3 years ago, I smelled burning wires and , I pulled the hu out and the amp circuit burnt my hand, later i checked my wiring and everything was good, I have seen some nice kenwoods but wont buy them now.I had a sony oel fx-700 it worked great but display went out, so I bought a cheap audiobahn 1100 new on ebay for like 80$ it has 4v f,r,s outputs, aux in, changer and sat radio controls, 45wx4, mp3, I have had it for about a year w no problems.the only thing it nedded was an eq the presets sucked, but with my matching eq 70$(ebay) the sound quality is awesome.

No it works great, better than any pioneer i ever owned, i liked pioneers because of the display and screen savers, but aplines are alot better

well i think i might go with an alpine then, thats kinda why i dont want a pioneer. i dont want somethin thats so blue and bright, especially in houston people notice things like that and follow your car down and jack your crap. i think i might go with the 9857

i like pretty simple and basic looks too. and i definately want somethin that has a removeable faceplate

 

Eclipses come with a cd that basically if your head unit is jacked it is worthless. Even better, if the criminal sends it to eclipse thinking they'll fix it, they'll arrest him.

LOL....I got a kenwood MP628 I love it it has the ipod controler hookup so all ya need is a lil conectero on you IPOD(if you have one) and you use H/U to control IPOD, alot better than fumbling with CD IMO

i would take my 955 over my old premier 860 or my friends alpine 9855

 

I love my alpine CDA-9847. Its the shiet and i like the simple display and fine tuning capabilities since im an SQL guy.

 

If I pay anything over $599 I'm just gonna get a in dash TV

NOW I have seen kyles clairion its badd **** I want it :) he knows his stuff

 

I would say get a Pioneer, I love mine, but I understand your reasons for not wanting it.

 

alright well im pretty set on the 9857, im sad tho cause if i order it now i wont be able to enjoy it. im leavin town the 29th for pennsylvania. itd prolly get here right around then. im ordering whatever head unit i get tomorrow, which is most likely going to be the alpine. thanks for all the reviews and suggestions
