GET IT!!!!
I just got it, and love it, but my dad has had it for close to a year, and i've enjoyed it for that long. Pretty decent investment if you ask me. Theres alot to choose from, so its not the same stuff on the reg. radio.

i had it for a week.. thought it sucked, and got rid of it.. most of the stuff they had on sucked, and half the time it was tracks that you've never cared to listen to on cd's, etc.. clarity was alright.. but that was about it. i guess you could say im picky when it comes to music, so dont take my personal experience with it as anything to change your mind about!

I sell lots of satellite radio at work, and many of my customers really enjoy it. It definitely gets away from the mainstream stuff you hear on regular radio...same 10 songs all day long which drives me crazy too! There are many different channels with all kinds of different music, talk radio, sports, etc. What you have to answer for yourself is whether the 13 bucks a month would be worth it...many say yes, but many say no too. Regardless of anyone elses thoughts, is it good value for you? If the answer is yes...go for it. If I had the money available right now I would have it for sure. Good luck...you'll figure it out!

I'm getting Sirius VERY shortly. I can't stand commercials and the same crap over and over again and if I hear another 50 Cent song I'll scream.
With so many options how can you not like it?
Sirius gives you a free 3 day pass so to speak on their website to try them out. I tried and I LOVE IT!

I've had Sirius for over a year now. I do not plan on keeping it. I forgot to notify them to cancel my annual subscription last year. I didn't realize they automatically renew using my credit card. I didn't know I was billed for another year until I saw it on my cc bill, nearly 2 months AFTER they billed me! I'll keep it for this year (it's already paid for) but will not renew again next.

I have been disapointed w/ several aspects of Sirius. Maybe it's my personal tastes in music, but they don't have the variety I was looking for.

The classic rock stations are decent, but not earth shattering. I very rarely hear things I don't already have on CD.

The blues station (there is only one!) really bugs me. I'm a huge blues fan, but moreso of modern, contemporary stuff than the older (usually poorly recorded) stuff. Sirius has one stream that plays it all. It bothers me that there is a contemporary jazz station AND traditional, but not the same for blues.

The country stations are disapointing too. I can't really describe what I wanted.. but Sirius isn't it. The country streams also are of very poor quality in my opinion. The jazz and blues streams are of excellent quality, so it seems to me that Sirius has made the decision to allocate more bandwith for those streams than for the country ones. The country streams have a distinct lack of base and sound very hollow. Not really sure how to describe it better than that.

Lastly, don't believe the hype, it is still not 100% commercial free. They advertise for themselves quite a bit! It confuses me too because they advertise for themselves to people that have ALREADY SUBSCRIBED! Much of it is 'listen to this on this stream on blah blah blah..'. And maybe it's just that I grew up listening to many of the local DJ's, but the ones they have in NYC (Sirius HQ) annoy the hell out of me.

Lastly, they are not local. Local matters. Just yesterday I had to listen through the talking head mumbo-jumboing about traffic and SUV issues in LA. I could really give to craps what the traffic in LA is like!

There are some wonerful things about Sirius. The reggae and jazz streams have introduced me to some new music. And having access to the artist and song names at the touch of a button is really awesome. It has spured a few CD purchases.

And I should note that I have a pretty extensive music collection. I currently own something on the order of 300-400 CDs. I have nearly all of them ripped to MP3 and on CDRs in the truck. This means I have direct access to a pretty extensive variety of my own music.

Also my commute is very short. I live less than 2 miles from work and actually refrain from taking the truck whenever the weather is good and/or I don't have to go get groceries or something. I am willing to bet that if I had a longer commute I might be more interested in Sirius.

My girlfriend just bought a new car. She is driving an '05 Mazda 3 now. It is Sirius ready and I think we are going to give it to her for her birthday next month. She really likes it. She likes the 80's stream very much and usually puts it on that as soon as she gets into my truck. So clearly YMMV.. For me, it just isn't worth the cost.

I have SIRIUS and absolutely love it. Here in western MD we have like 4 FM channels, and for the most part they aren't the best. That is the main reason that I bought the satelitte radio. Besides that you get to continuously hear the new stuff out there, you get to know the artist and song name everytime, and besides that, its cheaper than buying a CD a month...I got the Clarion Calypso plug and play tuner, one plus with it I got the home kit too, and I can listen to it on my surround sound.... I'll tell you one thing about plug and play units though, the channels tend to drift, and if you live in an area with alot of radio stations you may find that you need to get a RF modulator to get a clean signal. To me it was a great investment, and I recommend it to anyone who hates FM... Once you have SIRIUS, you'll never go back to listening to FM....

I drive 800+ miles a week and I can't live without my XM. This week my truck is in the shop for some preventative tranny work, and I'm in a loaner (V6 Escape) and without the XM, my commutes are miserable. On the 50-100 mile rides, I often lose stations, and when I try to channel-surf I get nothing but commercials. Its EASILY worth the $13/mo for me. If it was $25/mo that might make a difference, though.

I wish direct TV had a radio set up, they have a bunch music station for tv(no picture just music) I play around with them when I have a party or something and need some back ground music, those stations are pretty good, I don't see why they can't make a receiver that would only receive those channels in your car, I mean I already pay for the service for TV.

something like that will be out soon, if it isnt already... Dish Network, or Direct TV, one or the other, is actually allowing for subscribers to add another reciever to their account with mobile satellite dishes.. direct tv in the car.. cant wait to get it.. also cant wait to see the accident rate's rise once many start to buy the dishes, lol.
