New headunit and equalizer is in
I bought Fletch's old headunit of of him the other day. Well, if you can call it old
he goes through one about every month. It is an Alpine CDA-9853 headunit with the Glidebar setup. The Glidebar is a bit confusing, but overall its a pretty nice head unit.
I installed the headunit with the pocket at first to see how it sounds, and to see if I liked the settings for the radio EQ. I was pleased with how it sounded, but there wasn't enough control for me. I decided to cut out the pocket and modify the radio mount to insall an old Alpine EQ from one of my cars from a few years ago. By the time I had everything cut and mounted, it was 1am, so I went to bed. In order to be able to use the equalizer, I have to connect my 4ch amp and run the wires for the door speakers, but that has to wait till the weekend.
Here it is with the pocket, before putting in the EQ:

Looks sweet. I would have bought that one instead of the 9851 if it ddin't have the glide bar thing. I like the display and the glossy black color of the faceplate. I've heard the bar is a pain at first but once you get it it's pretty easy.
