that is probably the best idea... that is what i would do if i were to put a system in my truck, cut the seat, and make a new cup holder/sub box... especially sense i have a auto... more room....

that would be great as a theft deterrent
my old intrepid got broke into once while i was at school. so once i finally got a sub and amps and a new deck, i was going to do everything possible to make sure it was a huge PITA to get. i build a 3.5cu. ft. box, which i was using in my ranger for while. but i had U-bolts or whatever bolted into the rear seat bracing, to steal that, you had to take out 4 bolts to get the bottom half of the rear seat out. 2 more bolts for the top, and 4 more to get the box out. then, you had to literally kick the **** outa the back of the box, cuz it was sqeezed soo tightly between the rear wheel wells.

fun project, the box i just designed for the ranger (x-cab tho), your going to have to take out the seats to get it in/out.

That's nice. What type/size of wood did you use for the box or did you have it made for you? I had my amps custom mounted in my seats and couldn't afford to pay for the place to make a box. I will do one myself sometime soon and I'll post pics once everything is all nice and clean looking.

I made it myself using 7/16 OSB. It sounds absolutely perfect. Probably the best mod on my truck...besides overall looks.

I also made it for 03RangerInROC...but I'm not sure if she installed it yet, last time I checked she was waiting on a new door.

Werty - I really like that setup. Once I get some time and some spare money, I'm going to replace the my factory headunit and may have to build a box like yours for the subs.
