I was thinking about wiring my radio to a rocker switch so that I would not need to use the key to turn it on. Is this possible? And what wire would I splice to do it?

 

You would have to rewire it so its drawing power straight from the battery not the ignition. Its possible, but just be careful not to leave it on for too long.

 

Yeah i want to do it to save battery power. I figure that if it doesnt need to start the computer and all the other stuff that starts up when you put in the key it will save battery. And it would be kindof cool.

 

Matt if you turn the key backward, you will now use anymore power than connecting a switch. The computer and other accessories will not run if the key is turned back instead of forward....

 

But...thats not as cool...

 

Just run both your constant and your 12v straight to the battery or to a circuit that is always on in your fuse box. My bro has his run like that in his TJ and never had a problem. Just an extra fuse or 2 to be safe. Just don't forget to turn the thing off.

 

i did this in my intrepid. it was a pretty nice mod. i also had it wired so when i turned the key it came on as well. really liked it alot, that f-ing, DIIIING, DIIIIING, DIIIIIING, DIIIIING. gets soooo annoying.

thankfully i ripped it out of the ranger.
