I think its all in the way you set a system up....Audiobahn doesnt make crappy stuff.....its that people dont do the right things to make Certain speakers sound good.
Like he said though....I can buy some no name speakers and make your car rattle. Just because they have a lot of bass doesn't mean the bass sounds good...SQ is in the "ear of the behearer" to an extent...but SQ is SQ and you can't say a ****ty speaker puts out good SQ if it doesn't.

Who says there was no SQ? Why must you assume there wasn't any quality to the bass?

I upgraded from a p5 to my current sub 12". Quite an upgrade too. Maybe I've just got the pick of the litter. Not bad for just under 100 bucks too.

I've only heard one louder single sub system in the past 2 ot 3 years, and that was an aluminum eclipse 15" sub... Althought I can't say I've heard alot of systems recently, just what I remember from some meets a year or so ago.

Plus Chroming isn't really that expensive... Don't be hating the chrome..

P.S. FYI most installers don't like products they don't sell, or can't become a licensed retailer for. Again, I'm not saying audiobahn or sony is the ****, but it's not all ****.

then why would audiobahn have a reputation at all? if that were true, wouldnt just about every company have a bad rep with their products because people dont do the right things, and not just audiobahn?

Brand bias, pure and simple. What do you think of Chevys?

I like most chevys...the installer I know isn't biased toward any certain brand they sell. I actually introduced him to Edesign and he was amazed at how awesome the amp sounded. I guess it just depends what the definition of sound quality is....and that varies from person to person.

You also have to consider the market they are going after. When *most* people walk into Circuit City to get a "system" they don't know which components are quality and which are decent. When they see a $249 chrome, flamed Audiobahn amp and a plain looking, black Alpine which do you think they jump on? Audiobahn and the like design their products to fill their wallets. I'm not necessarily saying that is a bad thing. While I personally would never buy anything Audiobahn, I don't really think it is a bad product. Those people that don't know the difference between that Audiobahn sub that looks cool and that Adire sub that looks cheap don't care. You just have to look at it from a dealer's standpoint; they will make a lot more money off the flashy product than the higher quality product. Audiobahn has found what works for them and I applaud them because they provide a decent quality product to fit that need.
I think Sony makes good stuff. Again, while I wouldn't put it in my truck, I'd never go around saying it sucks. I've heard some great sounding Sony systems. My old roommate had a Sony setup in his boat. 8 speakers, a few amps, 2 subs, and an Xplod deck. I've heard cleaner, but that setup was bulletproof. It got wet, shaken, stirred, you name it and it kept playing without skipping a beat. I was very impressed.
All in all, I try not to judge the these (and similar) brands. I think they all put out a decent product that fits waht many consumers are looking for.

(responding to fastev) yes their marketing techniques are successful, but i thought this thread was asking why people dislike certain brands so much

Because I think a lot of people judge them on that. When nothing else looks like their product people usually assume one of two things-- either they are the coolest things and they've got to have them, or they must really blow and the manufacture has to put out eye candy just to sell them.

http://realmofexcursion.com/videos/Adire/brahma12.3.wmv that one?

no thats scottie johnson, he has like 12-14 Brahma Extremes(its a brahma but they made it just for him, you cant buy these from adire, they can handle like a good bit more and have stuff to help for spl, because thats all they are made for pretty much like the MT) but thats one of his vans, he has 2, the other one is a Resonant engineering van, has 14 12" MTsthere is a video of it in the RE Audio section http://realmofexcursion.com/videos/R...ing/mt12.1.wmv
but he is the world leader i think in his division of db drag

I am getting ready to re-do the Ranger I just bought, and just to show you my ignorance, I let my buddy do everything. All I do is pick out the deck features I want and give him the keys. I come back to a complete system, and a great one at that. He hooks me up on price, too.

Can't beat the deal!

Bryan! Holy long time no see man! I'll be back down there in 20 days, tell everyone to prepare, lol.

Anyway -- I really don't have any idea. I'm usually pretty faithful to some Pioneer 4-ways in all 4 corners hooked through an amp and an MP3 player in the dash. Nothing elaborate.

If you missed the thread about the new truck, it's right here if you want to see pictures and mod upgrades so far.

Take care, see you in a few days!
