Sony XPLOD CDX-M7810 receiver questions

I am about to purchase this headunit

And I was wondering if anyone has used/using it before/now.

I am wondering how "good" the Sony brand is and if i should buy this headunit. I am about to buy this sub-200 dollars.

I would also welcome some other suggestions for other headunits around the 150 range (give or take a few dollars)

Thanks in advance

I've always been a fan of the CDX-series, but with the Active Black Panel display. I've never had a single problem. I am not a fan of rotary dials, but that's merely a personal preference.

you have that or the alpine without the fold down display...better yet, just check ebay. You'll be able to get a more expensive model for about the price you want to pay

sony decks are ok imo. they DEFINITELY arent the best when it comes to sound quality, but their entry level models pack in some good features for the price. i've owned 2 sony decks and 2 alpine decks... alpine sounds better no question about it. if you have plans on growing your system into something awesome, go with an alpine deck. if you just want a nice, flashy-lookin deck, stick with the sony.

As with the evolving my system, haha. I don't plan to. i only have a small 10" JL sub and I'm gonna focus on getting myself a bike (motorcycle) and stuff for it. So yeah.. haha. This is just a side thing.

Thanks, for all the comments. More is definitely welcome

i have a sony that's backup so if my kenwood craps out on me i will still have music. it has the black active face on it and in my opinion the highs sound way better than the kenwood, but the kenwood plays mp3's. i'm gettin a jvc ar-7500 really soon because i'm tired of the kenwood and i want somthing different to look at.
